PAKISTAN PRESIDENT SIGNS 18TH CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT BILL INTO LAW
ISLAMABAD, April 19 (APP) – President Asif Ali Zardari Monday gave assent to the landmark 18th Constitutional Amendment bill making it a law, that reduces President’s powers to sack prime minister and dissolve the parliament. President Zardari signed the historic document at a grand ceremony at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, which was witnessed by top political figures of the country, that rid the Constitution of all undemocratic clauses inserted into it by successive dictators. “Let no one think of subverting the Constitution,” the President said in his address.

PAKISTAN: FEHMIDA CONSTITUTES PROBE BODY ON WOMEN ISSUES
ISLAMABAD, Apr 19 (APP): Dr. Fehmida Mirza, Speaker National Assembly, has constituted an Inquiry Committee in the National Assembly Secretariat under provision 3(1) of the Protection against Harassment of Women at the Workplace Act, 2010.The Committee will comprise of Safdar Hussain Malik, Additional Secretary (Com), Latif Qureshi, Joint Secretary (Legis) and Ms. Najma Siddiqui, Joint Secretary (Com). The Committee will take up complaints made under the Act. Section 3(1) of the Protection against Harassment of Women at the Workplace Act requires to institute an Inquiry Committee in each organization to enquire into complaints under the Act.
