ASSOCIATION OF INDIAN MUSLIMS OF AMERICA
Hari Sharma’s legacy will continue to guide us for a long time as we struggle against bigotry and injustice and try to serve the cause of peace.
The Association of Indian Muslims of America, Washington DC, an organization that represents a large number of Indian-American Muslims, has expressed
shock and grief at the passing away this week of Professor Hari Sharma of Vancouver, Canada. Prof Sharma, a professor of sociology, was a long time resident of Vancouver and a tireless peace & communal harmony activist. Starting in 1963 when he migrated to Canada, Prof Sharma was always in the forefront of all peace, non-violence and communal harmony campaigns. He was equally devoted to events in India as in North America.
Prof Sharma was often seen leading rallies, organizing conferences and petitions to stop hatred, violence and injustice in society. With his long and dedicated service to the cause of peace he became a beacon of hope for
restoring peace in today’s violence prone world. Indeed his legacy will continue to guide us for a long time as we struggle against bigotry and injustice and try to serve the cause of peace.
