Where is India Headed? is a prescient and timely chronicle of contemporary India over the past decades. It brings together topical and incisive analysis about the very pressing issues that threaten Indian democracy and pluralism — majoritarian tyranny, the rise of fascism, Kashmir, assault on secular-democratic polity, caste and class inequality and the Covid pandemic. A must-read, this book is a testament to how members of the NRI community have consistently worked in support of India’s secular-democratic polity, which contradicts the narrative of the Hindutva establishment that the majority of NRIs are their supporters. Most recently, the immense NRI support and solidarity for the farmers in their historic strike, has contributed to the reversal on the farm laws by Modi, and has been acknowledged by the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), the umbrella organization of over 40 farm unions.
