POSTHUMOUS ROYAL PARDON TO GENIUS ALAN TURING

Alan Turin hailed as the ‘father of modern computing’ convicted in 1952 for homosexuality, termed a crime in Britain of that time was granted Royal pardon on December 23, 2013.
Turin played a key role in breaking Germany’s naval messages encrypted in the “Enigma” code, which some historians say ensured early end of World War II.
Following the conviction, Turin committed suicide in 1954. Like the conviction of Oscar Wilde, the conviction of Turin remains on the dark chapters of British judicial system.
